Fighters who practice MMA in MD are always trying to find ways to improve their strength.  Having only technique will only make the match last longer than it needs to last.  With strength working in conjunction with technique it provides the fighter with knock out power potential.  Womens self defense classes also recommend they to do strength and conditioning training to improve their physical performance.  Improved physical performance will benefit the fighter in so many ways.  They will experience improved cardiovascular endurance.  It is necessary to have good cardiovascular endurance to make it to the end of the hard workouts and finally the big match with gassing out or getting extremely tired.  The body needs oxygen to get your muscles to work at its peak.
